Summer's Here

2 min read
My physical therapy is almost done :) but my knee is still not at 100%.  I think it's at around 80%, which is an improvement.  But sometimes it's still painful or feels strange.

I have good news!  I am moving next month :D my fiance and I are moving in together and we've found a great apartment!  Bad news?  My current apartment is not ok with me leaving early and I will still have to pay rent here for about a month after I move :( not cool!!  But after that, I will be saving a lot of money, so I guess it's not too bad?  And since I will be getting my security deposit back, the last month of rent will not be very expensive.

Yesterday and today I have had a fever :'( I think tomorrow I should be able to go back to work, because I feel a lot better now.  But I'm still very hot!  My temperature has only gone down by about 0.2 degrees (Centigrade) but at least my headache and dizziness are gone.  I know I live in the US but my thermometer was given to me back when I lived in Japan by one of the school nurses.  I am really used to checking my temperature in C now under my arm, the way they do in Japan.  Under my arm, I am usually around 36.8 C.  Sometimes if I get up to around 37.2 C I start to feel feverish.  Yesterday I was 37.7 (about 100 F) and today I have gone up to about 37.5, so not super high fevers, but enough to feel it.  This week I have been helping do an audit at my company's factory, and the plant floor is very very hot, so I think that might be why I started to feel bad.  Maybe I got dehydrated?  I plan to go back to work tomorrow and I will try to drink lots of water.

Doctor's Orders

2 min read
Finally went to the doctor about my bum knee.  Went to a joint specialist.  The doc said it is something that probably won't require surgery.  I got put on physical therapy for 6 weeks.  After that we will have an evaluation to see whether or not the therapy was effective.  And if not, reconsider options.  Kinda bummed about 6 weeks of therapy but at least it's probably better than surgery.  Be prepared to hear from me even less than usual lol.  Therapy starts in mid-May and lasts til the end of June.  I have to go 2 or 3 times per week, after work, so I will not really have time to do much of anything between work and therapy.

Cooincidentally this huge project I am working on at work also has a target date of the end of June.  Don't want to post about work here but yeah, big stuff.  And other work stuff also happening in June... not to mention my fiance is moving in June and it will be the future home for both of us, so I will probably be heavily involved in apartment hunting soon.  My own lease isn't up til the end of August, but I will probably start moving my stuff gradually once we get a place picked out and he moves in.

And then, wedding planning can truly begin!!  Never a dull moment.

I have a week off in July, just can't wait.  Until then, I will be busy busy.

Finally got around to finishing an outline of my book and started writing it all over again from the beginning, scrapping everything for the millionth time... but at least I have a pretty good outline this time.  I got rid of one of the main characters...  The story is different now but I feel that it's better organized.  I wrote the prologue and first chapter again.  Wayyyyy too much dialogue in it, though.  I think I may need to re-think the way I am writing it yet again.

How are all of you?

So, things have been pretty crazy here, as usual.

I got engaged about 2 weeks ago.  So excited!  Working on living situation details right now since we currently live in different cities.  Then after that is sorted out we're going to start saving money, going to pre-marital counseling, and preparing for the big day.  Haven't picked a wedding date yet but we're thinking about wedding locations (as in, the city where it will take place) a little bit and other details.  After we pick a general area and timeframe we can see what's available (more specific locations & venues) and make more detailed plans... wedding seem like kind of a pain in the butt...

Currently considering pizza for the wedding food...  Neither of us is a big fan of cake so we are thinking of cake alternatives.  I think we may decide to get donuts lol.  That would be awesome.  I want to decorate them in our wedding colors haha.  I think the colors will be purple and green because those are our favorite colors... maybe lilac/lavender and mint green or something.  Just not primary colors.  I think that would be too bright?  We are also considering a wacky theme wedding so I guess I will wait to declare colors.

Going to visit my parents & my fiance's parents next weekend :)

Been doing a real crappy job of writing!  So much for my goals...

I have been absolutely exhausted lately.  Too much work.  Good news is that we are doing employee evaluations and I think my rating will be higher than just satisfactory, hopefully "exceeds expectations".  Yay.  I'm not sure if they will give me a bonus or a raise or something, but that would be nice!  And yay for knowing that my hard work is noticed and appreciated by my higher-ups!

I was supposed to visit a friend in Michigan this weekend but I heard the weather forecast for this weekend here in Illinois is up to 16 inches of snow D: so I think I will stock up on food and gas and then veg out on the couch at home this weekend.  Usually I drive 2 hours down to my boyfriend's place on Friday and come home on Sunday but I am worried I will get stuck somewhere if it snows too much.  So I think I will spend some time reading and/or playing video games, writing, drawing, etc.  I never do anything anymore because I never have time.  It will be nice to relax.

Next weekend is game night, woo.  Oh I forgot I still need to level up my character >.<

Anyway I am going to crawl into bed now.  Hope you are all doing well!

I haven't been uploading new things :( I've just been submitting some old photos to groups.  It's nice because there are a lot of old photos worth seeing again.  But I wish I was being more active in taking photos now.

I have been working full-time so it's hard when I am inside the whole time that the sun is up!  I noticed this week that the sun is always in my eyes when I'm driving... I go east in the AM and west in the PM so the sun is always in my eyes.  But just a few weeks ago it was dark when I went to work and dark when I got home, so I guess it is a good sign that the days are getting longer.  Please come, spring!  This winter has been SO COLD.  We are talking negative temperatures almost all the time.  It has been down to -20 or -30 Fahrenheit (including the wind chill, and up to -17 without it) which is just plain ridiculous in Centigrade.  I have leather seats in my car which I had to cover with a blanket so it doesn't feel so cold.

Anyway.

I have been starting up work again on my book that I have been writing for over a decade now.  I am going to try to work on it every day for 2 hours.  The plan is to do this for 90 to 100 days.  I might end up skipping some days when there are special plans but I want to stick to it as best as I can.  So that means I might not be on DA as much.  It's not because I don't like you!  It's because I really, really need to work on my book.  If I don't commit some real time and effort to it, it's not going to get written, ever.

I even bought this book called 90 Days to Your Novel, which is where the 90 - 100 days figure came from.  TBH I dislike the author's tone most of the time, and I am already wondering if I made a bad choice in writing help books.  In spite of not liking the way she talks, a lot of the advice seems pretty good, and I think it will at least help me to be more disciplined about writing.  But seriously, WTF is up with saying "you will need 2 to 3 hours a day for this" and then later saying "allow 30 minutes for reading and thinking and an additional 2 to 3 hours for the exercises".  Um, nobody working a full time job has time for that.  And please be up front with the time your book requires.  First exercise in the book was a total waste of time.  And some of the other stuff in the book, like quotes, were from books I do not like... author has zero street cred with me for those things.  But hopefully I will learn something from it.

I will try to check in sometimes but the internet is really distracting to me so I might unplug it while I write.

Take care!
