I haven't been uploading new things
I've just been submitting some old photos to groups. It's nice because there are a lot of old photos worth seeing again. But I wish I was being more active in taking photos now.
I have been working full-time so it's hard when I am inside the whole time that the sun is up! I noticed this week that the sun is always in my eyes when I'm driving... I go east in the AM and west in the PM so the sun is always in my eyes. But just a few weeks ago it was dark when I went to work and dark when I got home, so I guess it is a good sign that the days are getting longer. Please come, spring! This winter has been SO COLD. We are talking negative temperatures almost all the time. It has been down to -20 or -30 Fahrenheit (including the wind chill, and up to -17 without it) which is just plain ridiculous in Centigrade. I have leather seats in my car which I had to cover with a blanket so it doesn't feel so cold.
Anyway.
I have been starting up work again on my book that I have been writing for over a decade now. I am going to try to work on it every day for 2 hours. The plan is to do this for 90 to 100 days. I might end up skipping some days when there are special plans but I want to stick to it as best as I can. So that means I might not be on DA as much. It's not because I don't like you! It's because I really, really need to work on my book. If I don't commit some real time and effort to it, it's not going to get written, ever.
I even bought this book called 90 Days to Your Novel, which is where the 90 - 100 days figure came from. TBH I dislike the author's tone most of the time, and I am already wondering if I made a bad choice in writing help books. In spite of not liking the way she talks, a lot of the advice seems pretty good, and I think it will at least help me to be more disciplined about writing. But seriously, WTF is up with saying "you will need 2 to 3 hours a day for this" and then later saying "allow 30 minutes for reading and thinking and an additional 2 to 3 hours for the exercises". Um, nobody working a full time job has time for that. And please be up front with the time your book requires. First exercise in the book was a total waste of time. And some of the other stuff in the book, like quotes, were from books I do not like... author has zero street cred with me for those things. But hopefully I will learn something from it.
I will try to check in sometimes but the internet is really distracting to me so I might unplug it while I write.
Take care!
